Nautapa means the nine hottest days of the year. It is believed that the most intense heat of the year is going to occur between 25 May and 2 June. According to the Hindu calendar, Nautapa is observed in the month of Jyeshtha, which has been observed for centuries.
It is believed that during these 9 days, the rays of the sun fall directly on the earth, due to which these 9 days are considered the hottest days. Due to the high heat during these days, maximum evaporation takes place from the earth, which emerges in the form of clouds and indicates the arrival of a good monsoon in the coming days.
It is also believed that the hotter the sun is, the better the chances of rain. Due to the maximum rays of the sun falling directly on the earth, the earth will heat up even more and this will purify the earth and the farmer will also get a good yield of crops.
If it rains during Nautapa, it is not considered a good sign. There is a possibility of it having a bad effect on the upcoming monsoon. On 25th May, the Sun will enter Rohini Nakshatra. Due to which the rays of the Sun fall directly on the earth and the temperature is at its peak.
