Pichola Lake, Pride of Udaipur.

Pichola Lake is a freshwater lake which was built in 1362 AD during the reign of Rana Lakha by Pichu Chidimar (Chhitarmal) Banjara near Pichola village, west of Udaipur. Maharaj Udai Singh, seeing the beautiful view of this lake during his reign, settled the city of ‘Udaipur’near it. Which is also called the ‘city of lakes.

Jagmandir and Jagnivas, Mohan Mandir, Arsi Vilas are built on Pichola Lake itself. Jag Mandir and Jagnivas have currently been converted into ‘Lake Palace’ which is world famous as a heritage hotel.

This is the same lake on the banks of which ‘Natni ka Chabutra’ is built. Udaipur city and its surrounding areas are supplied with drinking water from Pichola Lake, as well as its water is used for irrigation.

Pichola Lake is a very popular tourist attraction. Along with boat rides, other activities can also be enjoyed in Pichola Lake. This lake is very important from the tourism point of view. There is hardly any tourist who comes to Udaipur and does not enjoy boating in this lake.
