One such king whose tale of courage is sung by the whole of Rajasthan. Kalla Raimalot, who is not only famous for his bravery but is also known as a four-armed folk deity. Kalla Ji, who is considered as the folk deity of Rajasthan, was the son of Asha Singh, the younger brother of Rao Jaimal of Rathore Merta. The famous Bhaktimati Meera Bai was his aunt.

Kalla Ji was married to Hadi Rani, the princess of King Bhoj of Bundi. In Rajasthan history, Kalla Ji was such a person whose elegies were written while he was alive and he fought the war exactly as it was written.

In 1624 AD, when Akbar attacked Maharana Pratap, Kalla ji took part in the war. Kalla ji met Akbar’s court poet Prithviraj who is called ‘Pithal’. Kalla ji requested Prithviraj ji to write his living elegies. Prithviraj ji said that elegies are written after killing. Then Kalla ji said that I will fight in the battlefield in the same way as you write. Then Prithviraj ji wrote living elegies. Kalla ji went away from there humming them.

Then Akbar’s army attacked Chittor. Kalla ji told this to his wife, then she said that you are not with me here but promise that you will take us with you to heaven. Kalla ji promised and left for the war. Jaimal was appointed as the commander and reached the battlefield.

Kalla ji fought in the battlefield in the same way as was written in the elegies. When he saw his uncle Jaimal even in injured state, Jaimal ji said that I want to fight but I have been shot in my leg. Then Kallaji made him sit on his shoulders and both of them risked their lives in the war. Rajasthan has produced such brave warriors. Kalla Raimalot’s thana (memorial) is built in the fort of Siwana, which is dedicated to his memory. It is said that even after his head was cut off in this war, his torso kept fighting.
