There have been many brave women in the history of Rajasthan whose names have left an indelible mark on the pages of history. One of them is a queen who is known as ‘Ruthi Rani’ in the history of Rajasthan. She was the princess of Lunkaran Bhati of Jaisalmer and the second queen of the ruler of Marwar, Maldev Rathore, Umade Bhatiyani. She is known as ‘Ruthi Rani’ in history.
It is written in history about Ruthi rani.
when the king got married to Queen Umade Bhatiyani, the king organized a celebration and due to excessive drinking at that time, he could not reach the queen’s room. After the marriage, the maid Bharmali had come with the queen. The queen sent her maid Bharmali to call the king. When the king saw Bharmali, he was fascinated by her beauty. When both of them did not arrive after a long time, the queen went to see them herself. At that time, the queen was very angry to see both of them together and she left from there vowing not to show her face to the king for the rest of her life.
From there, Queen Umade Bhatiyani started living in the Taragarh fort of Ajmer. Which later came to be known as ‘Ruthi Rani Ka Mahal‘.
Due to this stubbornness of hers, she did not show her face to the king throughout her life and when the king died in the war, then performing her duty as a wife, she committed sati with his turban.
